WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball head coach Nicki Collen announced the addition of North Dakota’s Kiera Pemberton to the program on Friday morning.
“When looking for a hidden gem in the portal, we quickly came across an awesome Canadian forward in North Dakota and made her a priority,” said Collen. “Kiera’s superpowers are her motor and work ethic. She is elite in transition because of her speed and loves to play downhill to utilize her length. She added the 3-point shot to her arsenal this season, making her a more dynamic scorer, while also having the size and toughness to guard multiple positions on defense, which will help our rebounding efforts. Kiera has a huge heart for others, and our fans will love the way her joy for the game and for others comes through both on and off the court. Kiera plans to be a firefighter when her playing days are over, and both of her parents are in law enforcement, so public service is in her genes. We are so excited to welcome Kiera and her family to the Baylor Family.”
The 6-foot-1 forward led the Fighting Hawks in scoring and rebounding her sophomore year in Grand Forks, averaging 16.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, shooting 52.9% from the field with 18 3-point baskets. She had a career-high scoring day against Oral Roberts in January, tabbing 34 points off 14 field goals and picked up a career-high in rebounds with 17 off the glass at South Dakota.
As a freshman, Pemberton played in 27 games with 18 starts and was the team’s No. 3 scorer at 10.5 points per game. She led the Fighting Hawks in scoring twice and rebounds 10 times with a pair of 20-point games in her first season.
The two-time All-Summit League honoree played to a Second Team appearance after the 2024-25 season and was a member of the All-Freshman Team in 2023-24.
Pemberton hails from Langley, B.C., Canada, where she attended Walnut Grove Secondary School. In her senior season, she averaged 34 points and 14 rebounds per game to be named the Eastern Valley Championship Tournament MVP.
Representing Canada in the 2021 FIBA U-16 Women’s AmeriCup, where her native country was the runner-up to Team USA, Pemberton finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds total in the tournament.
The 2024-25 Baylor squad finished the season with a 28-8 record while matching Collen's best Big 12 record at 15-3. BU finished second in the Big 12 regular season, advanced to its 16th Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship final and hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
