WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball’s Elise McGhee was selected in the fifth round of the Pro Volleyball Federation Draft by the San Diego Mojo on Monday afternoon.

In the second iteration of the PVF Draft, McGhee, an outside hitter, was chosen as the second pick in the fifth round, 34th overall.

A player drafted needed to be at least 18 years or older on the day of the draft and defined as a college player. Athletes who met these criteria were eligible to be drafted. Players were not required to declare for the draft and anyone drafted may elect to return to college (if she has remaining eligibility) should she choose not to sign with her Pro Volleyball Federation team.

The league currently consists of eight teams: Atlanta Vibe, Columbus Fury, Grand Rapids Rise, Indy Ignite, Omaha Supernovas, Orlando Valkyries, Vegas Thrill and San Diego Mojo.

Going into the final two regular-season matches, McGhee leads the Bears with 369 kills at 3.84 kills per set with a .245 hitting percentage. On top of that, the San Antonio native has a team-leading 36 aces and has put up 48 overall blocks. She boasts 1,081 kills so far in her four-year career along with 163 blocks and 69 aces.

The Mojo finished the 2024 season with a 13-12 record in the PVF Championship Semifinal. The team plays at the Viejas Arena in San Diego, Calif.

In July, the Mojo signed former Baylor Bear Lauren Harrison for the 2025 season as well. Harrison played the previous season overseas with VBC Cheseaux in Switzerland after graduating from Baylor after her final season in 2022.

McGhee is the first Baylor player to be drafted into the Pro Volleyball Federation, as Shelly Fanning was signed to the Atlanta Vibe in May 2023 and Yossiana Pressley was signed to the Omaha Supernovas in June 2023, to be claimed off waivers by the Vibe in January 2024.

The 2025 season for the Mojo begins on January 9 on the road against the Orlando Valkyries, also the PVF’s opening night. They’ll open the home season on January 16 against Orlando.

The teams will play a 28-match schedule culminating in a four-team championship weekend in mid-May with two semifinal matches before the title contest.

The Bears head on the road for the final two regular-season matches, facing Cincinnati on Wednesday, Nov. 27 in Ohio before facing West Virginia in Morgantown on Nov. 29.
