Game notes
• Baylor plays Villanova for the first time since 2022 and the third time in history, all in November tournaments, on Monday in the third-place game of the 2024 Battle 4 Atlantis.
• BU is playing in The Bahamas for the first time since 2017 when they took part in the Junkanoo Jam, defeating Missouri State, and Georgia Tech. The Bears are 9-1 in the Bahamas (Jankanoo Jam- 06, 15, 17; Sunsplash Shootout- 2010, Battle 4 Atlantis- 2024)
• The Bears lost the semifinal game to Indiana, 73-65, shooting 33.3% from the floor.
• Tied for the second-most 3-pointers in a game in program history, Baylor pulled away from Southern Miss with 15 threes in their first-round matchup.
• Baylor is now 14-1 when playing official, NCAA-sanctioned games outside the United States border.
• First recorded game abroad in Baylor WBB history was a part of the Caribbean Classic, where BU defeated Cal, 75-58, in front of 215 fans in Riviera Maya, Mexico, at the Adventure Spa Palace.
• In The Bahamas, the 2024 Battle 4 Atlantis will be the first tournament with the Bears in seven years after the Junkanoo Jam in 2006, 2015 and 2017, and the Sunsplash Shootout in 2010. It will be BU’s first appearance in Atlantis’ Imperial Ballroom.
• The Bears are 4-1 abroad under Nicki Collen, with wins over Fordham, Arizona State and Houston in the 2021 Cancun Challenge, and Southern Miss in the 2024 Battle 4 Atlantis.
• Baylor suffered its first loss outside of the USA on Sunday, as Indiana advanced to the final game, 73-65.
• Yaya Felder scored her most points in a Baylor uniform (20) with her most threes since joining the Bears last season (five).
• Jada Walker scored 15 on the night with six rebounds.
• The Bears held Indiana to 37.5% from the floor, but were stiffled by a 61.5% performance from the charity stripe.
• Baylor opened the 2024 Battle 4 Atlantis with a 101-55 win over Southern Miss to advance through the winner’s side of the bracket.
• In only the third 100+ point game of Collen’s stint, the Bears shot 57.4% from the floor and 44.1% from three at 15-of-34 beyond the arc. 15 ties No. 2 in program history with the Arkansas State game in December of 2019.
• With another strong defensive performance from three, the Bears complimented their strong offensive game at the arc with a strong defensive performance, holding the Lady Eagles to 22.2% from three.
• Six Bears lended a hand from deep, as Bella Fontleroy and Sarah Andrews each had four, Yaya Felder had three, Waiata Jennings had two and Darianna Littlepage-Buggs and Jada Walker each had one.
• Littlepage-Buggs led the scoring efforts for Baylor in her third of five games, totalling 19 with seven rebounds.
• Five players ended the afternoon in double figures.
• Fifth-year senior Sarah Andrews, who has spent all five years in a Baylor uniform, currently sits at No. 10 and T-No. 8 in program history for games played and games started, respectively.
• 138 games played puts her behind Sophia Young-Malcolm, now an assistant coach for the Bears, at 139. The overall record of 162 is held by Suzie Snider Eppers from 1973-77 while the Bears competed in the AIAW. In NCAA competition, the record is at 148 by Nina Davis (2013-17).
• 106 games started puts her beneath LaToya Ellis (1995-99) with 108. National champion Brittney Griner holds the games started record at 148.
• Andrews is also 8 threes away from taking, 7 from tying, the record for 3-pointers made in a Baylor uniform, currently held by Odyssey Sims at 258.
• The Irving, Texas, native is also in the top-10 list for assists with 497, good enough for sixth.
