No. 9 Baylor EQ Comes Up Short to No. 2 Texas A&M
Bears finish fall season against Aggies

WACO, Texas – The ninth-ranked Baylor Equestrian team fell to No. 2 Texas A&M at the Willis Family Equestrian Center on Friday, 12-6.

The Bears (1-4, 1-2 Big 12) put up a fight against the Aggies (5-2, 1-2 SEC), but struggled on the Jumping Seat side to give A&M the win to finish the fall season.

THE RUNDOWN
Starting off the meet in Flat, Lauren Jorgensen scored a 66 but was eventually upended by A&M’s 71. Juliette Earley went up against a 78 but came up just short with a 71, the point going to the Aggies. Lauren Stebbins earned a 69 but fell to A&M’s 75. Lauren Reid earned the first point of the day for the Bears, outscoring A&M’s 76 with a 79 to get the point. Finishing out the event was Madison Mitchell, coming up short with her 79 against the Aggies’ 80. Overall, the Aggies took the event, 4-1.

In Reining, Riley Cachat scored a 71 to A&M’s 70, with the point going to the Bears. Kalena Reynolds scored a 70.5 against A&M’s 72.5, A&M’s point. Emily Moomaw fell behind by half a point to her opponent, 70.5-71. Sadie Peters and A&M’s Isabelle Gonzales’ matchup resulted in a tie, with both riders scoring a 67.5, no point being awarded. Isabella Hehr closed out the event strong, scoring a 71.5 to A&M’s 71, the event resulting in a 2-2 tie.

At the half, the Bears were down 6-3 headed into Fences and Horsemanship.

To start Fences, Lauren Reid scored a 78 to start, but came up short, with A&M scoring an 81 and earning the point in the second half. Madi Mitchell faced off against A&M’s Alexa Leong next, scoring an 83 to her 81 with the point going to the Bears. Lauren Jorgensen had a tie, 80-80 on Cowboy in her matchup, resulting in no points awarded. The Bears fell short in their last two matchups in Fences, with the Aggies taking the event 3-1.

In Horsemanship, Gianna Pozzi came out first for the Bears but lost her matchup by a point, scoring a 72.5 to A&M’s 73.5. Taylor Smith scored the next point for the Bears, 74.5-73.5, and Alexis Rutledge fell to Hanna Olaussen 74.5-68. Nadalee Vasquez fell by two 73.5-75.5 and Anna Thron scored a 73 against A&M’s 71. The Aggies took the event, 3-2.
