WACO, Texas – The ninth-ranked Baylor equestrian team returns to the road on Saturday to face No. 5 SMU at the Dallas Equestrian Center, with the start time set for 11 a.m.

The Bears (1-2, 1-2) take on the Mustangs (2-3) for their first non-conference meet of the season.

Last time out, BU faced then-No. 5 Fresno State for its home opener in Waco, upsetting the Bulldogs, 12-8. Baylor then entered the NCEA rankings for the first time this season, coming in at No. 9.

SMU hosts the Bears on Saturday after defeating then-No. 2 TCU, 15-4, at home on Oct. 25.

Baylor will start familiar faces in the lineup against the Mustangs, including last week’s MOPs in Madison Mitchell (Flat), Alexis Rutledge (Horsemanship) and Emily Moomaw (Reining).

So far this season, the Bears have won the Fences event once, Flat twice and Horsemanship once.

Through three meets, all Big 12 contests, BU is led by Lauren Reid in Fences (2-1) and Flat (3-0) on the Jumping Seat side. For Western, Alexis Rutledge leads Baylor in Horsemanship (3-0) while Emily Moomaw leads in Reining (2-1).
