IRVING, Texas – Baylor senior Alexis Brown was named the Big 12 Women’s Performer of the Year for the 2024 collegiate outdoor track and field season, announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon.

Brown ended the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the first of the senior’s career, with two titles in the long jump and the 4x100-meter relay.

The Kennedale, Texas, native is the first Bear to cross the 22-foot mark in the women’s long jump in program history, landing a conference championship-winning 22-5 leap at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium. Brown set three program records in the event throughout the outdoor season (21-11, 21-11 ½ and 22-5) all at her home track in Waco.

Brown also wrote history as the first outdoor women’s long jump conference champion in program history in both Big 12 and Southwest Conference eras. Again on Thursday, Brown adds to the history books as just the second Bear tabbed the Big 12 Outdoor Women’s Performer of the Year, joining Kiana Horton in 2018.

Also a member of the women’s 4x100-meter relay squad, Brown pocketed her second gold medal with the third-fastest 4x1 mark in program history, leading the rest of the field by just under three-tenths of a second. Joining Tiriah Kelley, Kayla Hunt and Michaela Francois, Brown ran the third leg in a title-clinching 43.16-second race.

Brown also had an outstanding year in the 100 meters, running a PB of 11.29 seconds at the Desert Heat Classic in Arizona on April 27, the 36th-best mark in DI competition this season.

The Baylor track and field team continues its season at the 2024 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Ark. In entries that were just made official, Brown boasts qualifying marks in all three events at No. 3 in the long jump, No. 4 in the 4x100-meter relay and No. 17 in the 100 meters in the west region.
