WACO, Texas – Baylor men's golf earned the No. 6 seed at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, announced during the 2024 NCAA Men's Golf Selection Show on Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon. The three-day tournament will be played May 13-15 at The UNC Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.

BU has now participated in 25 of the last 26 NCAA Postseasons and 30 overall in program history. The home of the Carolina men’s and women’s golf programs, UNC Finley Golf Course just underwent a $13.5 million renovation spearheaded by former Tar Heels Davis Love III and Mark Love. After watching his team play great golf over the past month, BU head coach Mike McGraw looks forward to watching his team chase another NCAA Championship berth on a golf course that will test these teams.

“It's always good to see your name in a regional field,” McGraw said. “It's a demanding golf course, which I think is great. There was a regional last year where 47-under par got a playoff for the last spot, and you don't want that in any regional. This golf course will test you, but par is a good score. The reality is, if you play well, you're probably going to make it [to nationals]; if you don't, you're probably not going to make it. So ideally, we just need to do what we've been doing lately, and that will probably be good enough to get out.”

The Bears will aim to be one of the five teams that advance from Chapel Hill to the NCAA Championships at The Omni La Costa Resort May 24-29 in Carlsbad, Calif.

BU has advanced out of the regionals seven times in program history and five times under McGraw. Baylor’s best finish at the NCAA’s in the McGraw Era was a tie for fifth when they reached the Match Play Quarterfinals in 2017 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Hill, Ill.

The Chapel Hill Regional features a 13-team field — No. 1 seed North Carolina, No. 2 seed Alabama, No. 3 seed Georgia Tech, No. 4 seed East Tennessee State, No. 5 seed Northwestern, No. 6 seed Baylor, No. 7 seed VCU, No. 8 seed Loyola Marymount, No. 9 seed Long Beach State, No. 10 seed Clemson, No. 11 seed Michigan State, No. 12 seed Ball State and No. 13 seed Howard. The field includes four teams in the latest Scoreboard Top-25 rankings.

Baylor has seen six of the 12 teams in the field this season, going 1-6 against familiar opponents — No. 4 North Carolina (0-1), No. 9 Alabama (0-1), No. 17 Georgia Tech (0-1), Northwestern (0-1), Loyola Marymount (0-2) and Michigan State (1-0).

The Bears are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship at Whispering Pines, marking its highest finish at the conference championship since 2002. Johnny Keefer earned Big 12 All-Tournament team honors with a tie for sixth in Trinity, Texas.
