IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 announced the schedule matrix for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season Thursday morning, as the league moves to a 20-game schedule for the first time.
With times and dates to be announced at a later date, BU will play host to Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, UCF and West Virginia. The Bears will travel to Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, Iowa State and Texas Tech while trading home games with Arizona, Utah, TCU, Houston and Cincinnati.
The schedule will take the Bears on the road to visit each of the four new members of the Big 12 Conference in Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah. Additionally, the Bears will play host to Kansas without a return trip to Lawrence for the first time since 2011. Baylor is riding a four-game winning streak against the Jayhawks at the friendly confines. Kansas State and former BU assistant Jerome Tang will also make a trip to Waco, Tang’s first visit to Foster Pavilion. The Bears have won three of the last four against the Wildcats in Waco.
In a matchup of the two winningest power-conference programs since 2019, the Bears will split home games with the defending Big 12 Champion Houston Cougars, playing a conference game in the Third Ward for the first time since February 1996.
The schedule will also feature a home-and-home with Arizona, the 2024 Pac 12 regular-season champion. The Wildcats and Bears just missed each other in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, as Clemson knocked off the No. 3 seeded Bears in the round of 32, followed by an upset of No. 2 seeded Arizona in the Sweet 16. While the all-time series is tied 5-5, the Bears have won both meetings between the two in the Scott Drew era.
For the first time since 1957, Texas Tech will not visit Waco as the Bears and Red Raiders have just one scheduled meeting in the Hub City. The schedule also snaps an even longer streak, taking the Bears to Cincinnati for the first time since 1946 as part of a home-and-home series with the Bearcats.
A home-and-home with Utah marks the first meeting between these two programs since 1960 and the Utes' first trip to Waco in program history. While the Bears will end a brief one-year hiatus from Ames, Iowa, they will make their first trip to Boulder, Colo., to play the Buffaloes since January 2010.
After the Bears took the inaugural meeting last year in Orlando, Fla., UCF will make its first appearance in Waco, while Oklahoma State and West Virginia return to the Heart of Texas for the first time since 2023.
Baylor will make its third trip to Tempe, Ariz., and its first since 2009, in an attempt to run its winning streak over the Sun Devils to six games. BU will also look to avenge a road loss against BYU when it travels back out to Provo, Utah, this season.
