Baylor MGOLF tied for 18th Place on Day One at the Prestige

LAQUINTA, Calif. – Baylor men’s golf settled into a tie for 18th on Monday at the Prestige on the Norman Course at PGA West.
Johnny Keefer and Davis Ovard lead Baylor after day one, with a pair of even-par 71’s. Two shots behind the pair of Bears, is Tyler Isenhart after his 2-over 73.
With 36 holes left to play, the Bears are tied with UCLA and Chattanooga at 7-over 291. Texas Tech leads the tournament at 13-under 271. Red Raider Tyran Snyder leads the individuals at 6-under 65.
THE RUNDOWN
Opening on No. 10, Keefer traded an early birdie and a bogey at Nos. 12 and 13. His next birdie came on No. 16. Making the turn, Keefer carded three bogeys on Nos. 1, 5 and 6 and two birdies on Nos. 2 and 8, to finish the day tied for 37th overall.
Ovard claimed a birdie at No. 14 and two bogeys at Nos. 15 and 18 to close his opening nine. On the front side, the Bear made two birdies at Nos. 3 and 8 around a bogey at No. 7 to finish the day in a tie for 37th.
Tyler Isenhart started strong with an eagle on his third hole of the day. At No. 15, he carded a double bogey, but bounced back with a birdie at No. 16. With three more bogeys at Nos. 18, 3 and 7, Isenhart ended the round at 2-over 73.
Jonas Appel ended day one with a score of 5-over 76 in a tie for 93rd. Despite a bogey on No. 12, Appel’s played his final six hole of the front side bogey free. On the back nine, he carded four bogeys at Nos. 1, 5, 6 and 9.
Luke Dossey carded a 7-over 78 to tie for 110th. The senior carded a bogey on No. 10 and a double bogey on No. 12, but claimed his first birdie of the day at No. 13. After a bogey on No. 3, a birdie on No. 4, and a double bogey on No. 5, Dossey completed the round with four bogeys on Nos. 6, 7, 8 and 10.
Over at the Prestige Individual Invite, Baylor had five Bears compete individually, led by Trey Bosco who shot an even-par 72.

* Tyler Isenhart is tied for the most eagles with one overall.
* Trey Bosco carded his fourth-straight round at par or better.
* Johnny Keefer shot his fourth-straight round at par-or-better
