WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball announced the addition of former Duke guard Jeremy Roach on Saturday.

The two-time team captain for the Blue Devils appeared in 130 games with 108 starts across four seasons in Durham. Head coach Scott Drew is excited to bring Roach’s talent and experience to Waco.

“Jeremy, obviously, has no shortage of experience playing a big role in some big-time games over his career,” Drew said. “An all-conference performer in the ACC and a team captain for multiple seasons, he is someone that will add to our team on and off the floor, and our fans will love watching him compete on a nightly basis."
A native of Leesburg, Virginia, Roach has 1,469 career points to go along with 402 career assists. Additionally, he has a 1.74 career assist-turnover ratio, averaging 10.9 points and 3.0 assists while shooting .435 from the field.
Over his four years on Tobacco Road, Roach helped Duke to a Final Four (2022), an ACC regular-season title (2022), and an ACC Tournament title (2023).
He started 2023-24 on the Jerry West Award watch list and finished the year ranking sixth in the conference in assist-turnover ratio (2.3), highlighted by a gaudy 5.8 ratio over the Blue Devils' final seven games. Roach also shot .844 from the charity stripe, which ranked sixth in the ACC.

Against Baylor last season, Roach played all but 15 seconds in the Blue Devils' win over the Bears at Madison Square Garden in December. The senior scored 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting while going 7-of-8 from the line in the marquee matchup between the powerhouse programs.

Selected as the team's most valuable player in 2022-23, Roach was an All-ACC Honorable Mention selection and made the All-ACC Tournament Team as Duke's second-leading scorer at 13.6 points per game. Despite missing four games with an injury, Roach led the team in minutes (1,061) and minutes per game (33.2).
Roach helped Duke to the 2022 Final Four as a sophomore, averaging 8.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 39 games. A preseason Bob Cousy Award candidate, he upped his game during the Blue Devils' tournament run, tallying 11.8 points, 2.8 boards and 3.0 assists in five NCAA Tournament games, earning NCAA West Region All-Tournament Team honors along the way.

Roach appeared in all 24 games with 18 starts as a freshman in Durham in 2020-21. He averaged 8.7 points per game on 78-of-172 (.453) shooting and 26-of-84 (.310) from three-point land, finishing second on the team with 66 assists.
Joining a roster of talented returners, Roach will also team up with one of the highest-ranked recruiting classes in the nation in V.J. Edgecombe, Rob Wright, Jason Asemota and Noah Boyed. The class is rated as high as No. 2 in the country by On3.com. ESPN, Rivals and 247 Sports also have the Bears’ 2024 class ranked in the top-5.
