Bears ready to face the Falcons to start postseason

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – No. 1 Baylor acrobatics and tumbling will face No. 8 Fairmont State in the quarterfinals of the 2024 NCATA Championship. The meet will start at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday at the Feaster Center.

The Bears (8-0) face the Falcons (7-2) for the second season in a row in the quarterfinal round, the sixth time overall in postseason play.

BU is coming off another undefeated regular season with their most recent win against Oregon on April 5. The Bears have been strong in pyramid and acro all season, earning the highest score of the meet with a 9.95 in heat 1 of Pyramid, the Inversion heat, against the Ducks.

Fairmont State is coached by Danielle Cutri, who was a four-time NCATA All-American for the Falcons in her time as an athlete. The Falcons are entering postseason play after a 266.770-270.465 loss against Frostburg State University.

This is the 13th matchup between Baylor and Fairmont State, with Baylor winning the last six matchups between the two teams. The Bears lead the all-time series 10-2 and have a 4-1 record at Joe Retton Arena.


BU won its first national title as a program in 2015 at Fairmont State, defeating Oregon for the trophy with Felecia Mulkey in her first year in Waco.

All seating is general admission. All-session passes covering all four days of the championship are also available, priced at $38. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on a cash-only basis.

The meet will be streamed on ESPN+. A full recap and final scores will be posted to BaylorBears.com/acro after the conclusion of the meet. The winner of the quarterfinal matchup will face the winner of No. 4 Oregon versus No. 5 Mary Hardin-Baylor.
