WACO, Texas – The John R. Wooden Award® presented by Principal® announced that Baylor women’s basketball’s Sarah Andrews and Darianna Littlepage-Buggs have been named to the Women’s Preseason Top 50 Watch List on ESPN’s SportsCenter and ESPN.com.

Andrews and Littlepage-Buggs are two of 50 student-athletes on the list and two of six hailing from the Big 12. Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list is comprised of student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award.

With a spot on the Wooden Award watch list, Andrews is making her third appearance on a preseason list this year. The two-time All-Big 12 selection earned a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention after a successful junior season in 2022-23. In games against AP Top 25 teams last year, Andrews averaged 16.9 points per game in nearly 39 minutes of action. She reached double-figure scoring in 15 of 18 Big 12 games, with 20-plus point performances in six of those contests and a career-best 30-point outpouring in a top-25 win on the road at Oklahoma. Additional preseason honors for Andrews include a unanimous all-conference selection and a spot on the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List and Naismith Trophy Women’s Watch List.

Littlepage-Buggs is on her second preseason watch list with a selection to the Wooden Award Top 50. The unanimous 2023 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Littlepage-Buggs enters her sophomore season coming off a record-setting true freshman campaign for the Bears. Receiving the most weekly Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors in BU program history and second-most ever in the conference, she led the team with 14 double-doubles and 9.4 rebounds per contest and finished with 28 blocks. Additional preseason honors for Littlepage-Buggs include an All-Big 12 Team nod and a spot on the Katrina McClain Award Watch List.

The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2024 John R. Wooden Award Women’s Player of the Year presented by Principal. Players not chosen to the preseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Award™ midseason list, late season list, and the National Ballot.

The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Nearly 1,000 voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games. The Wooden Award All American Team™ will be announced the week of the “Elite Eight” round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2024 John R. Wooden Award will be presented in Los Angeles in April.
