DALLAS, Texas  – With all four scoring golfers shooting under par, the Baylor women fired a 7-under 281 in Saturday’s second round at the Big 12 Championship and moved up one spot to third place in the team standings.

After a five-way tie at 2-over-par on day one of the tournament, Silje Ohma emerged to lead the group of Baylor women’s golfers. The freshman from Norway shot 3-under 69 in the second round to climb the leader board and move up to sixth place at 1-under 143, just three shots out of the 36-hole lead shared by three golfers.

Oklahoma State leads the field at 4-under-par, while Texas Tech sits in second at 2-under, just ahead of Baylor at 1-over going into Sunday’s final round.

THE RUNDOWN
Hannah Karg played the front nine 1-under with birdies at Nos. 1 and 4 and a bogey at No. 5. Another birdie at No. 15 completed the 2-under-par round and moved her from 11th to seventh.

Britta Snyder completed an even-par front nine with a bogey on No. 3, Baylor’s only double bogey of round two on No. 5, and three birdies on Nos. 6, 8, and 9. Her back nine had one birdie on No. 13 and even-par holes the rest of the way, securing the 1-under-par and moving up to ninth place.

In Baylor’s only sub-70 performance of the day, Silje Ohma shot birdies on Nos. 1 and 7 and bogeys on Nos. 8 and 9 for an even-par front nine. In the back nine, she shot one bogey on No. 14 and birdies on Nos. 10 and 13 before ending with another pair on Nos. 17 and 18 to come in at sixth place.

Rosie Belsham had a clean front nine, hitting birdies on Nos. 3 and 6 with no bogeys. Her back half was Baylor’s only above-par nine, with a birdie on No. 13 and bogeys on Nos. 16 and 18, tying Belsham with Snyder in ninth.

Sera Hasegawa anchored the Bears, striking an even front half with birdies on Nos. 1 and 3 and bogeys on Nos. 2 and 5. Her back nine contained Baylor’s first eagle of the tournament on No. 13, and she ultimately came out even with bogeys on Nos. 10, 11, and 15, and a birdie on No. 18.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   BU is top two in all team stats except total birdies.

  *   Baylor leads par-3 averages with 3.18, 0.07 ahead of second place.
  *   Hasegawa’s eagle places BU among four teams to have an eagle in the tournament so far.
  *   Ohma’s eight birdies are tied for the fourth-most in the field through two rounds.
Karg and Ohma tie for second in Par 3s, while Snyder and Hasegawa tie for third.

WHAT’S NEXT
Sera Hasegawa will kick things off for the Bears at 10 a.m. Sunday on hole one, followed by Britta Snyder at 10:10 a.m. and Rosie Belsham at 10:20 a.m. Hannah Karg will begin at 10:30 a.m., while Silje Ohma anchors the team at 10:40 a.m.
