WACO, Texas – Baylor women's golf signed Yoonjeong Huh and Hannah Herbel during the first day of the fall signing period, as announced by head coach Jay Goble on Friday.

Huh, who goes by Amy, and Herbel bring decorated amateur careers to Waco, and Goble is excited to add them to the roster.

A native of South Korea, Huh has also lived in New Zealand and Hawaii, bringing a global golf perspective with her to campus.

“Amy is a fantastic player with lots of international golf experience,” Goble said. “She is from South Korea but has played and practiced a lot in the U.S. over the past few years. She has a bright golfing future ahead of her, and we can't wait to get her on campus.”

Huh carded a pair of top-10 finishes in AJGA events this summer, highlighted by three rounds under par to finish tied for third at the AJGA Junior at Palouse Ridge in July. A few weeks later, she finished 8th at the AJGA Junior at Ruby Hill.

At 12, Huh moved to New Zealand, where she spent two and a half years studying and honing her golf game. In that time, she won the U14 Lydia Ko Championship and made the quarterfinals of the New Zealand Women's Amateur Championship in 2017. That same year, Huh also finished first among U14 participants at the Australian Girls Amateur Championship.

Herbel, a Bismarck N.D., native, has been limited by the climate in her home state, but signing with the Bears will allow her to continue to hone her game 12 months a year.

“Hannah has spent most of her life playing a full golf schedule in the summer but shutting it down in the winter due to weather conditions. She has a high ceiling, and I am very excited to see where this game could take her when she has 12 months a year to practice.”

Herbel, along with her twin sister Leah, helped Bismarck Century to three team state titles during her middle school and high school career, as she began playing with the high school team as a seventh grader. She had 28 tournament wins in high school and finished seventh at the 2020 National High School Invitational in Pinehurst, N.C. Herbel finished fourth in her final state tournament, and took home the North Dakota High School Activities Association Athlete of the Year.

The current BU squad has wrapped up its fall slate and will return to action on Jan. 23, 2023, at the Match in the Desert in Phoenix, Ariz.
