WACO, Texas – Head coach Felecia Mulkey of the seven-time national champion Baylor acrobatics & tumbling program announced her 2023-24 signing class, revealed Thursday.

There were 14 student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent to join the Bears’ squad for the 2023-24 season.

“We are excited about this new group of Bears,” Mulkey said. “As the sport continues to grow and evolve, so does our recruiting. This class is well-rounded and will add to our already impressive roster with some specialists as well as all-around athletes.”
“Gabby Kaminski, Sofia Criado, Dailyn Hopkins and Olivia Pesqueira come to us from artistic gymnastics. Gabby comes in with several tumbling combinations that will make an impact right away. Sofia and Olivia both have impeccable technique and will likely be familiar faces in our tumbling heats. Dailyn has the ability to generate power and height on non-spring-loaded floor, which can bring high scores in our sport. She has also trained in competitive cheer and will bring her topping ability with her. Keep your eyes on this class of tumblers!

“Leavy McDonald is a base specialist who has a background in acrobatic gymnastics and power lifting. Her strength combined with her acrobatic gymnastics technique is going to make her a huge asset to her program. Maddy Jenson is a top specialist who also trained in acrobatic gymnastics alongside Leavy in the same gym. She is a talented acro top and will also serve as a mid-level in some of our pyramids. Josie Sutter is a base specialist who has trained in artistic gymnastics and recently began training in Acro. She has already made huge strides and I have no doubt that Josie, Leavy and Maddy will make an impact in the Acro, Toss, Pyramid and Team Events. All three of these athletes are committed to changing the game and taking this sport to the next level with their strength and acrobatic gymnastics experience.
“Gigi Rendino, Ava Troy, Becca Moore, D’ahni Branch, Leah Fredricks, Emily Bott and Payton Washington come from a competitive cheer background. Gigi is a strong base and powerful tumbler. She will bring high-scoring standing and running tumbling passes to the team event. She has the ability to train for the tumbling event as well. Ava will train as a top, but I am convinced that she can do absolutely anything. Her work ethic is second to none. She can tumble, she can top and she will work to do whatever the team needs. Becca Moore will be a Base/Tumbler. Like Dailyn, she can create power from the hard floor, which is an asset. She will bring standing and running tumbling passes to team event and will likely train for a group pass at some point. I describe her as a ‘deceptively strong’ base, her overhead strength and stability is already impressive. I can’t wait to get her here! D’ahni is a talented base who can tumble. She will make an impact in tosses, pyramids and team event. I am impressed with not only her strength but her drive. She will be fun to watch throughout her career as a Bear. Leah is a base that will bring standing tumbling to team event. She and D’ahni are currently on the same high school team. I am not sure if we have ever signed high school teammates. But these two are going to be amazing athletes and leaders of this program. Emily Bott and Payton Washington are both tops who will bring big tumbling combinations, not only in team event but in tumbling event. Emily has big passes and great lines that will score well in our sport. Payton is powerful, clean and can execute any combination pass you put in front of her. Emily and Payton have the ability to make an immediate impact in several events as tops and tumblers.

“Overall, this may be the most well-rounded class that we have signed in my time at Baylor. They are all talented, but they are even better humans. They will maintain the culture that the alumni have worked so hard to build here.”
