IRVING, Texas – Baylor equestrian sophomore Jumping Seat rider Annie Vorhies has been named the Big 12 Flat Rider of the Month for October, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

Vorhies went 2-0 in Flat in October, making her debut at then-No. 4 Oklahoma State with an eye-popping score of 90 and collecting Most Outstanding Performer honors along the way. She followed that up with an 83 in BU’s 5-0 Flat sweep against former No. 1 TCU as part of the Bears’ 12-7 upset win over the Horned Frogs.

Her win versus TCU also marked the largest point differential of the meet in Flat, helping BU to its first win of the season. No other Bear has scored above an 85 in the event this season, as Vorhies now holds two of Baylor’s top-five Flat tallies in 2022-23.

This is Vorhies’ second-career Big 12 Rider of the Month accolade, having previously been honored in Fences in September. The award marks Baylor’s 12th Flat honor in Big 12 history.

No. 8 Baylor returns to the competition arena on Friday, Nov. 4, at No. 1 SMU, with first ride scheduled for 10 a.m. CT.
