STILLWATER, Okla. – Baylor women's golf will make its third appearance at Karsten Creek Golf Club when the Bears open the NCAA Stillwater regional on Monday morning.
The Bears won the Cowgirl Classic in their last appearance at Karsten Creek in October of 2020. In 2018, they went to a playoff for the final match-play spot at the NCAA championship, where Arizona bested them on the second playoff spot. Head coach Jay Goble and his team feel right at home on a challenging golf course.
“I just think our experience on where to score from, play from and shoot a low number is invaluable,” he said. “I think with the wind conditions, finding the best place to bail out, where you can still score your golf ball, will be the challenge out there. Karsten Creek is very visually intimidating, but if you stand on the green and look back, you can tell that there's lots of room to hit your ball."
Gurleen Kaur will make her third and final start in an NCAA Regional after the 2020 regional was canceled for COVID-19 and the 2021 regional was canceled for weather. Playing out of the No. 1 spot for the eighth time this season, the senior returns to Karsten Creek, where she finished in a tie for 7th as a freshman at the 2018 NCAA Championship.
Addie Baggarly aims to continue her stellar play over the last month out of the No. 2 spot. The graduate transfer from Florida is coming off her best finish since 2019, a solo second at the Big 12 Championship. She has seen her stroke average drop by nearly two shots, from 74.83 to 73.08, in just two tournaments in April. Baggarly also finished in 3rd place as the first alternate in a US Women's Open qualifying event in Gainesville, Fla., on Monday.
Britta Snyder will also make her NCAA Regional debut, playing at the No. 3 spot. Snyder finished in a tie for 17th at the US Women's Open qualifier at Houston Oaks on Tuesday, highlighted by a final-round 69. Snyder finished tied for 16th in her only other appearance at Karsten Creek at the Cowgirl Classic last season.
Rosie Belsham is coming off a 7th-place finish at the Big 12 Championship, where she recorded at least one round at par or better in a seventh-straight event. Belsham, at the No. 4 spot, will be making her NCAA regional debut on a course where she finished in a tie for 6th in 2020 at the Cowgirl Classic in just the third start of her career.
Hannah Karg will make her second-straight start in the lineup fresh off a tie for 15th at the Big 12 Championship, her second-best finish of the season. The junior will be playing in her first NCAA regional and her first event at Karsten Creek.
The top four teams from each of the six regional sites will advance to the National Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Arizona.
Baylor will play with Oklahoma State and Arizona in round one, with Hannah Karg leading things off the No. 1 tee at 8:00 a.m. CT Rosie Belsham will tee off at 8:11 a.m. followed by Britta Snyder at 8:22 a.m. Addie Baggarly will tee off at 8:33 a.m., and Gurleen Kaur will round things out in the anchor position at 8:44 a.m.
