WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball will host Arkansas on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the Ferrell Center as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on the ESPN family of networks, with tipoff time to be determined.

It will be the 145th meeting between the two schools, with the Hogs leading the all-time series 97-47. The two have met just three times since the Razorbacks left the Southwest Conference following the 1991 season, including an 81-72 BU win in the 2021 Elite Eight to clinch the Bears' first Final Four appearance in 71 years.

MaCio Teague spurred on a late 10-1 BU run to finish with a game-high 22 points and fend off a furious rally by the Razorbacks at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

With a 7-2 mark, the Bears boast the best SEC/Big 12 Challenge record in either conference, a game better than Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, who are all 6-3. Beginning with a 67-62 win over No. 3 Kentucky in the inaugural challenge at AT&T Stadium in 2013, BU has defeated seven different SEC teams, including all three of its home contests in the challenge. The most recent home win was beating Auburn, 84-72, on Jan. 30, 2021.

Baylor leads the Big 12 with a 12-3 record in all conference challenges (SEC/Big 12, Big 12-Big East and Big 12/Pac-10). Oklahoma State has the next best mark at 10-6.

Entering the 10th year of the challenge, Big 12 teams are 48-41 (.539), with a 4-3-2 yearly record with wins in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019.

BU also announced it would participate in the Big12-Big East Challenge, taking on Marquette at the Fiserv Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022. That game will be followed by a rematch of the 2021 National Title Game against Gonzaga at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022.

The Bears return nine players from the 2021-22 Big 12 Championship squad. Adam Flagler, Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua, Flo Thamba, LJ Cryer, Dale Bonner, Zach Loveday, Langston Love, Jordan Turner and Austin Sacks will all return from last year's team. The Bears have also added three transfers to go along with two highly ranked high school recruits.

WVU's Jalen Bridges joins the Bears after starting all 36 Big 12 games with the Mountaineers over the last two seasons. Caleb Lohner returns to his home state after playing 62 games in two years with BYU in the West Coast Conference. He joins JUCO All-American Dantwan Grimes, who led the Rangers to back-to-back NJCAA National Tournaments. McDonalds All-American Keyonte George and Joshua Ojianwuna will join the program out of high school.
