TEMPE, Ariz. – Baylor women’s tennis was named a 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, the organization announced on Monday. The Bears also had several student-athletes earn Scholar Athlete Awards.

For 2022, the 1,517 Division I student-athletes named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, while 250 women’s programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

To be named an All-Academic Team, the team must have a combined GPA of 3.2 or above and all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

It is the seventh-straight season and 19th time overall that Baylor earned ITA All-Academic Team status. In addition to collecting ITA All-Academic Team honors from 2016-22, BU achieved the feat from 1996-2000, 2007 and 2009-14.

BU had five named an ITA Scholar-Athlete: Paula Barañano, Isabella Harvison, Alicia Herrero Linana, Hanna Pinto and Ana Carmen Zamburek.

This was Baranano’s third season to earn the award, while it was Herrero Linana and Harvison’s second. Pinto and Zamburek earned the honor for the first time.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.00 scale for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
