ORLANDO, Fla. – Aaliyah Miller received votes for The Bowerman preseason watch list, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USFTCCCA) and Bowerman Advisory Board on Wednesday.

The senior made her watch list debut last March after an undefeated indoor season in the 800-meters, capped by a national championship. In winning the national championship, Miller also broke the meet record formerly held by Raevyn Rogers, the 2017 Bowerman winner from the University of Oregon.

“It’s a huge honor that the Bowerman committee and our coaching peers have recognized Aaliyah as one of the top collegiate runners in the country,” said head coach Michael Ford. “It is definitely a well-deserved honor for the defending NCAA indoor 800m champion.”

Created in 2009 by the USTFCCCA, The Bowerman is collegiate track & field’s highest honor. Since its inception, the trophy has been awarded to 24 athletes.

After the announcement of this preseason list, there will be seven updates throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons, followed by the announcement of the semifinalists and finalists after the NCAA Outdoor Championships this summer. The 2022 Bowerman winner will be announced at the USTFCCCA convention in December.

Each watch list is comprised of the top-10 student athletes receiving votes from the subcommittees of the Bowerman Advisory Board.
