TRINITY, Texas – Baylor men’s golf climbed into a tie for seventh place following round two of the Big 12 Championship Tuesday at Whispering Pines.
The Bears found themselves in ninth place upon completing round one on Tuesday morning with a 17-over 305. They shot the sixth-best score of the day in round two, a 13-over 301, to join Kansas State and Iowa State in seventh.
Johnny Keefer is the highest Bear, sitting in 19th after two rounds with a score of 3-over 147. Following a 3-over 75 in round one, Keefer was 3-over through seven holes in round two before carding a birdie at the par-4 9th. The junior made a bogey at the par-4 11th to drop back to 3-over for the round, but birdied Nos. 12, 14 and 17 to get back to even for the second round.
Drew Wrightson is in a tie for 32nd place following a pair of 4-over 76’s on Tuesday. Finishing up the final nine holes of his first round, Wrightson closed strong with a score of 1-over par. He was 3-over through seven holes in round two, but closed the front nine with a birdie. On the back nine, he carded bogeys on Nos. 11, 13 and 16 around a birdie at No. 14 to get to 8-over for the championship.
Mark Reppe is also at 8-over through two rounds in a tie for 32nd. He finished up a 3-over 75 in the morning and began round two at even par through seven holes before suffering a double-bogey six at the par-4 7th. Reppe added bogeys at Nos. 11, 12 and 18 to shoot a second-round 77.
Zach Heffernan is in 42nd place at 11-over after two rounds. He began his day with a triple-bogey, double-bogey start at the resumption of his first round, but played the final eight holes at 1-under to finish off a 7-over 79. The freshman had a bogey, double-bogey start en route to a 4-over opening nine in round two. From there, he played his final nine holes at even par, highlighted by birdies at Nos. 15 and 18.
Luke Dossey is 19-over-par in 48th place after two rounds. Sitting at 10-over through seven holes when play was suspended on Monday, Dossey came out on Tuesday and played the final nine holes of his first round at even par after a double-bogey on his ninth hole. The junior followed that up with a 7-over 79 in the second round.
No. 9 Texas shot a 9-under 567 to take the team lead by a shot over No. 1 Oklahoma entering the final round on Wednesday. Texas Tech’s Ludvig Aberg is the individual leader at 5-under, a shot ahead of Oklahoma State’s Aman Gupta.
HIGHLIGHTS

•      Mark Reppe is one of eight players in the field to make an eagle through two rounds.

•      Reppe and Zach Heffernan played the par-3s at even-par through two rounds; they are two of the 16 players to play them at par or better.

•      Johnny Keefer was 2-under on the par-5s through two rounds, which tied for the fifth-best score in the field.
STAT OF THE DAY
Johnny Keefer turned in the team's best score in the first and second rounds marking the 16th time in 25 rounds that he set or tied Baylor’s lowest score.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Bears will be paired with West Virginia to close out the Big 12 Championship on Wednesday morning. Luke Dossey will be first off the No. 10 tee at 9:07 a.m. Zach Heffernan will follow him at 9:16, just ahead of Drew Wrightson at 9:25. Mark Reppe and Johnny Keefer will be the last two off for the Bears at 9:34 and 9:43 a.m., respectively.
