PHOENIX, Ariz. – Baylor men’s golf will play its final regular-season event beginning Friday morning at Papago Golf Club.
The Bears are coming off a ninth-place finish at the Aggie Invitational where they improved their position in each of the three rounds. Head coach Mike McGraw hopes to continue an upward trajectory this weekend.
“The Thunderbird is one of the oldest tournaments in college golf, there is so much history there,” he said. “The field is very strong this year, and we are hoping for a good performance in our last event before the Big 12 Championship.”
Mark Reppe will play out of the No. 1 spot this week. The senior is coming off a top-25 finish last week at Traditions, his third of the season. He finished in a tie for 69th last year, firing a pair of 1-under 70’s in the first and third rounds.
Johnny Keefer will make his Thunderbird Collegiate debut in the No. 2 spot, coming off his fourth top-10 finish of the season at the Aggie Invitational, a new career high.
Luke Morgan will play at the No. 3 spot for the second-straight event, coming off a tie for 48th last weekend.
Drew Wrightson moves into the No. 4 spot after improving his score in each of the final two rounds in Bryan last weekend.
At No. 5, Luke Dossey makes his return to the lineup in a stroke-play event for the first time since early October at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational. As an individual, Dossey finished in a tie for 33rd at the Aggie Invite and a tie for 14th at the DBU Classic last week.
Zach Heffernan will play as an individual, his sixth start of the season. The freshman from Boerne saw a 10-shot improvement between his second and third round at the Aggie Invitational last week.
The 54-hole event will begin with 36 holes on Friday, followed by 18 holes in the final round on Saturday.
