Baylor Men’s Golf Wraps up Fighting Illini Invitational
Luke Dossey Leads Bears in the Final Round at Olympia Fields

Olympia Fields, Ill. – Baylor Men’s golf wrapped up their weekend at the famed Olympia Fields Country Club with a 12th place finish at the Fighting Illini Invitational against a field that boasted 10 teams ranked in the preseason top-25.

Junior Luke Dossey led the way for the Bears with a 1-over par 71, notching his best round of the young season in the process. Sitting at 3-over through his first five holes of the day Dossey battled his way back with four birdies down the stretch to finish in a tie for 28th-place, individually.

For the second-straight event, sophomore Trey Bosco saved his best for last, shooting his best round of the tournament in the final round. After carding a pair of bogeys to begin his round, Bosco played his remaining 16 holes at even-par to finish in a tie for 75th.

Senior Mark Reppe continued his steady play with a 3-over par 73 and has now had all six of his scores counted through the first six rounds of the season. Reppe finished in a tie for 35th with an 8-over 218.

Freshman Drew Wrightson had a strong week at Olympia Fields highlighted by the first under-par round of his career on Saturday. On Sunday, he was able to card a pair of birdies on his way to a 6-over par 76 and a t-69 finish.

Junior Johnny Keefer finished off his week in a tie for 42nd.

The North Carolina Tar Heels won the event with a three-day total of 842 (+2) three shots clear of second-place Arizona State. The Bears finished four shots ahead of 16th-ranked Florida State.

HIGHLIGHTS
•      Baylor was 7th in the field in par-5 scoring for the week. They played the par-5’s in 4-under par as a team with a stroke average of 4.87.
•      Luke Dossey and Johnny Keefer each finished at three-under on the par 5’s for the week which was tied second-best in the field.
•      Luke Dossey and Drew Wrightson did a lot of their work on the par-3’s. Both finished with a stroke average of 3.08 which was tied for the 5th best score in the field.
•      Dossey was steady throughout the weekend leading the Bears with 35 pars

Head Coach Mike McGraw -- “Olympia Fields is such a special place,” McGraw said. “Regardless of the score, there is so much to learn. It does an incredible job of exposing your weaknesses. Suffice it to say, we know we have some improvement to do in a lot of areas.”
