THE RUNDOWN
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – On moving day at Olympia Fields, the Baylor men’s golf squad helped lead that charge with a 2-under par 278, one of only three-under-par rounds in the field on Saturday.

The Bears got solid contributions throughout the line-up with three players finishing under par for the round. Baylor’s 2-under par 278 tied 1st place, North Carolina, for the low round of the day.

Starting on the back-nine, Johnny Keefer went bogey-free through his first 10 holes, and after a bogey at the par-4 2nd, he finished strong with a birdie at No. 9, his final hole of the day. Keefer has climbed into the top-10 and is tied for 6th heading into tomorrow’s final round.

Senior Mark Reppe was also seeing red on his inward half, carding four birdies in his final seven holes. It was the second under-par round and his first sub-70 round of the young season.

Speaking of firsts, freshman Drew Wrightson had a career day at Olympia Fields. After three birdies in his first seven holes, the youngster from the Hoosier State kept the pedal to the floor en route to his first career under-par round (-1).

Baylor’s final counting score of the day came from Junior Luke Dossey who finished strong after three bogeys on the front-nine. Dossey began his inward half with a birdie at the par-5 1st and finished with eight consecutive pars to get into the clubhouse with a score of 2-over 72.

The Bears find themselves just three shots out of the top-five as they enter the final round, set to start at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

STAT OF THE DAY: Seeing Red – The Bears had three players finish under par on the day, joining 1st place North Carolina as the only teams in the field to accomplish that this week.
