THE RUNDOWN
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. –The Baylor men’s golf team is in 14th place after the first round of the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields.

On a day where no teams broke par, The Bears shot an 18-over 298. They currently sit within seven shots of the top-10.

Johnny Keefer led the Bears in scoring for the third time in four rounds, firing a 2-over 72, highlighted by an even-par 35 on the back nine.

Luke Dossey got things started for the Bears getting them in red figures with an early birdie on No. 1. Dossey got it to 1-under through 12 holes before signing for a score of 3-over 73 in the first round.

Senior Mark Reppe made par on six of his first seven holes, before ultimately recording a 6-over par 76.

Baylor’s final counting score came from sophomore Trey Bosco who bounced back from a 6-over par 41 on the front-nine nine to par nine of his final ten holes for the round.

STAT OF THE DAY: Par-5 Scoring – The Bears did their best work on the par-5’s on Friday playing them just a tenth of a stroke over par. That was good enough for the fifth-best team score in the field on par-5’s.

WHAT’S NEXT:
The Bears will return to action tomorrow morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. teeing off on No. 10. Freshman Drew Wrightson will lead things off for the Bears, followed by Trey Bosco who tees off at 9:09 a.m. Mark Reppe will go at 9:18 a.m., while Luke Dossey will go right behind him at 9:27 a.m. Johnny Keefer will take his customary position in the anchor spot teeing off at 9:36 a.m.
