Carrollton, Texas – Baylor men’s golf sits in seventh place entering the final round at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational after shooting 8-over on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bears sit within four shots of 4th-place Liberty, two shots of 5th-place Texas Tech (+13) and one shot of 6th-place Texas A&M (+14).

Baylor was anchored in the second round by junior Johnny Keefer, who sits alone in second place at 6-under after Tuesday on the heels of a 5-under 67, which was the second lowest round of the day. Keefer started out red hot with birdies on his first two holes of the day. After a double bogey at No. 4, Keefer played the rest of the round in 5-under par.

After an opening bogey, senior Mark Reppe, bounced back with three birdies in his final four holes on the front-nine. A back-nine though, that featured seven of the nine hardest holes on the day, got the better of Reppe with five bogeys on his way in. He finished with a 3-over 75, which has him tied for 12th entering Wednesday final round.

Luke Dossey also shot a 3-over 75 on Tuesday, which put him at 5-over for the tournament in a tie for 24th place. Dossey closed the front-nine with a pair of birdies to get to even par for his round, but a bogey and a double-bogey on the inward half would prove to be the difference in his round.

For a second-straight day, freshman Drew Wrightson, posted a counting score with a 7-over 79 highlighted by a long birdie putt on the par-5 7th hole.
