KAPOLEI, Hawaii – The Baylor women’s golf team won their 39th-team title in dominating fashion, winning the Rainbow Wahine Invitational by 30 shots.

Gurleen Kaur took home the individual title for the fourth time in her career, with a four-under 68 in the final round. She finished one stroke ahead of her teammate, Britta Snyder, at eight-under-par. Kaur and Snyder went back-and-forth, even sharing the lead for stretches, on the back-nine, before Gurleen closed with three birdies in her final four holes, to take the lead for good.

Snyder began the day with the lead and took it to the back nine, on Wednesday. After three bogeys in her first four holes on the back, Snyder rallied with two birdies in her final four holes to claim second place, her career-best finish.

Rosie Belsham finished just a shot behind Snyder in third-place, tying a career-best for the sophomore. Belsham got to four-under on her round, after a birdie at the par-4 10th hole. She eventually reached five-under with a birdie at the par-5 17th, before carding a 4-under 68 to complete the Baylor sweep of the top-three individual spots.

Freshman BaiMai Seema finished a solid week with her career-best round of 71 to finish in a tie for 12th. Seema started well for the second-straight day with birdies on two of the first three holes. As she made her turn to the back-nine at two-over for the round, she finished strong with six pars and three birdies to shoot the first under-par round of her collegiate career.

Antonia Matte shot a three-over 75 on Wednesday, but finished in a tie for 8th, the second top-10 finish in four starts to begin her college career.

Hannah Karg finished in a tie for 14th after a three-over 75 on Wednesday. She was the highest-finishing individual beating Hawaii’s Ting-Yu Liu by eight shots.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Head Coach Jay Goble -– “It was a great week for the team,” Goble said. “I’m especially happy for Gurleen [Kaur], Britta [Snyder], and Rosie [Belsham] who battled to the very end for the individual title. That is one of the things that makes this team so special, they are competitive with each other and that creates good play all around. We have a solid team and I’m very happy to end the fall on a high note.”
