THE RUNDOWN
ROLAND, Arkansas – Baylor women’s golf team had their second round at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup cut short by darkness Monday.
The Bears were sitting in sixth place when the horn blew, making it through 31 of their scheduled 36-holes on the first day.
Rosie Belsham is leading the way for Baylor at five-over, which was good enough for a tie for ninth when play was stopped. Belsham’s day was highlighted by a stretch of four birdies in six holes during her second round.
Senior Gurleen Kaur is just a shot back of Belsham at six-over in a tie for 12th individually. After three birdies in round one, Kaur added three more in her second round with three holes still to play.
Freshman BaiMai Seema made her career-first start on Monday and put together a solid collegiate debut shooting a plus-five 77 on a very difficult golf course. Her round was punctuated with eight-straight pars to finish round one and is currently in a tie for 20th with five holes still to play on Tuesday morning.
Fellow freshman Antonia Matte opened with a four-over 76 and is currently in a tie for 25th at nine-over with four holes still to play.
Britta Snyder led the way for Baylor in the morning session with a 3-over 75 thanks to her steady play. She recorded 13 pars and a birdie in her opening round and is in a tie for 25th.
