HOCKLEY, Texas – Baylor men’s golf closed its fall slate with a victory on Wednesday over Kansas State in the Championship session of the Big 12 Match Play.

Johnny Keefer picked up his third win of the week in dominating fashion, beating Kansas State’s Tim Tillmanns 6&5 to finish 3-1-1 in his five matches at Houston Oaks.

Sophomore Luke Morgan kept his momentum going on Wednesday afternoon breaking a tie through eight holes to take a one-up lead on Luke O’Neill. Morgan would win four of his next five holes before officially putting the match away after 14 with a 5&4 victory.

Playing alongside Morgan, Luke Dossey had a back-and-forth match with Cooper Schultz that featured 11 ties and five lead changes. Dossey’s par on his 17th hole of the day gave him a one-up lead with one hole to play. With the two players scoring matching fives on the last hole, Dossey won one-up.

With three points secured, Baylor needed just one win in its final two matches to secure the session victory. Brandon Hoff closed strong with a four at the par-4 17th for his second win of the week and locked up the match for the Bears by a final of 4-2.

Hoff’s playing partner, Mark Reppe, went into the final hole tied in his match, before falling one-up to Nicklaus Mason.

Freshman Zach Heffernan collected his first-career win Tuesday afternoon but fell 3&1 during Wednesday’s championship session.

After tying for fourth in pool play, the Bears finished ninth overall with the win over K-State. The University of Texas won the event with a 3-2-1 win over Texas Tech in the championship match.
