HOCKLEY, Texas – Baylor notched their first win of the Big 12 Match Play Championship with a 4-1-1 win over TCU on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Mark Reppe took control of his match from the beginning, building a three-up lead through five holes to put some green on the scoreboard, early. Reppe took a four-up lead through 14 holes and closed his match out a hole later at 4&3.

Sophomore Luke Morgan dominated his match in similar fashion, building a two-up lead through 10 holes before taking a strangle-hold on the match with three-straight wins to go five-up with five holes to play. Morgan would close things out on the 14th hole with the 5&3 win.

Fellow match-play rookie Zach Heffernan collected his first career win after battling from behind for much of the day. The Freshman from Boerne found himself one-down through 11 holes but won three straight to take a two-up lead, a lead that he would never relinquish on his way to a 2&1 win.

Senior Brandon Hoff made his season debut this week and collected his first win with a 2&1 victory over TCU’s Chris Berzina. After falling behind three holes into his match, Hoff responded with a win on the 4th hole. Hoff would take his first lead of the day on the sixth hole and would take the lead for good on the No. 13 en route to a 2&1 victory.

Johnny Keefer collected the ninth match-play win of his career on Tuesday morning in a losing effort against Iowa State. In the afternoon session, Keefer battled TCU’s Gustav Frimodt in a match that featured twelve ties including the final hole where Keefer’s chip-in from the back of the green forced Frimodt to hole his birdie putt to salvage a tie on the afternoon.

Junior Luke Dossey dropped his afternoon match 3&2 but he collected the first match-play win of his career earlier in the day against Iowa State. Dossey beat Frank Lindwall one-up in the morning session to give Baylor their second win of the morning and their third win of the week, to that point.
