Fort Worth, Texas – Baylor men’s golf wrapped up day one of the Colonial Collegiate Invitational in a tie for 11th place after a 36-hole score of 584.

Junior Johnny Keefer finds himself in contention for the second time in three events after shooting a 2-under par 138, good enough for a tie for second entering Tuesday’s final round.

Sitting at even par after 10 holes in his opening round, Keefer made a run of four-straight birdies before finishing his round with a two-under 68. His steady play carried over to his afternoon round where he shot an even-par 70, climbing up five spots into a tie for second.

Freshman Zach Heffernan made his collegiate debut on Monday shooting a pair of three-over 73’s to put himself in a tie for 37th. After starting his day at three over after just two holes, Heffernan was able to settle in with a couple of birdies on his inward half highlighted by one at No. 3, the first leg of the famed ‘Horrible Horshoe’. In his second round, he carded a pair of front-nine birdies on his way to his three-over 73.

Senior Mark Reppe is in a tie for 50th after 36-holes. He got off to a promising start finding his way into red figures through his first nine holes before finishing with a two-over-par 72 in the first round. Reppe followed that up with a six-over 76 in the second round to get to eight-over for the tournament in a tie for 50th.

Junior Luke Dossey accounted for a pair of counting scores on the day en route to shooting a 12-over 152 to put him in a tie for 66th with 18 holes to play.

Baylor is just a shot outside of the top-10 and six shots away from ninth place Florida entering the final round. At one-over-par, Pepperdine holds a one-shot lead in the tournament over Oklahoma and Wake Forest.
