MT Finds Singles, Doubles Wins Day 1 in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Baylor men’s tennis pair Sven Lah and Finn Bass were successful on day one of the ITA Fall National Championships, with Lah finding a win in singles and the duo winning in doubles at the Barnes Tennis Center.

Lah competed in singles in the first part of the day, facing Max Westphal of Columbia. He downed the Lion 6-1, 6-0 to secure his spot in the round of 16 of the event. At 11 a.m. CT on Friday, Lah is slated to take on Stanford’s Arthur Fery, the No. 2 seed of the tournament. The senior is now 6-1 on the fall season.

In doubles play, Lah and Bass faced the Alabama pairing of Filip Planinsek and Juan Martin. They came away with a 6-2, 6-3 win over the Crimson Tide. The Bears are now matched up with Wake Forest pairing Jakob Schnaitter and Siddhant Banthia, set to play at 7 p.m. CT on Friday. Lah and Bass are now headed into the round of 16 with a record of 5-2 together this fall.
