Baylor Track & Field: Jacobs Makes Podium in Women’s 10K
Freshman from Sunnyvale, Texas, scored one point for the Bears


MANHATTAN, Kan. – Lily Jacobs earned a spot on the podium in the women’s 10,000 meters, and Cole Hardan broke his own school record in the hammer throw to highlight day one for Baylor track & field Friday at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships.

Jacobs pushed all the way to the fourth spot before finishing in eighth place with a personal-best time of 35:28.61. The freshman from Sunnyvale, Texas, scored one point for the Bears with her performance.

Hardan took down his own school mark by one centimeter to make the finals of the hammer with a throw of 185-2 (56.44m). The junior from Valley Center, Calif., finished in ninth place.

Chris Stoudt put together a ninth-place finish of his own in the men’s javelin, making the finals with a throw of 170-9 (52.04).

In the women’s hammer throw, Samone Turner placed 13th with a mark of 160-9 (49.01m).

Alyssa Miller stands in 10th place through four events of the women’s heptathlon with 3,161 total points. She recorded a personal-best 100-meter hurdles time of 14.01 to kick things off and finished the day with a personal-best time of 25.10 in the 200 meters.
