THE RUNDOWN
HUMBLE, Texas – Baylor women’s golf made more history on Tuesday, becoming the first program in the Big 12 Conference’s 25-year history to win five consecutive tournament titles. The Bears shot a final-round 12-under 276, with all five players carding 2-under or better, to win the ICON Invitational by five strokes at Golf Club of Houston.

No. 1-ranked Baylor finished with a 54-hole total of 24-under-par 840. The Bears remained undefeated for the 2020-21 season and recorded victories over 13 top-50 ranked teams, including five top-17 ranked programs.

BU (-24) recorded head-to-head wins over No. 3 LSU (-19), No. 6 Oklahoma State (-10), No. 34 TCU (-3), No. 17 Northwestern (E), No. 36 North Texas (+1), No. 12 Houston (+3), No. 29 Texas Tech (+5), No. 42 Purdue (+9), No. 33 Texas (+10), No. 50 Texas State (+25), SMU (+29) and No. 39 Texas A&M (+57).

Freshman Britta Snyder earned her second top-3 finish of the season by taking third place at 10-under 206 following a final round of 4-under 68, including six birdies. She tied the school-record with a 7-under 65 in Monday’s second round, and her 10-under marked the fourth-best 54-hole score relative to par in program history.

Snyder was followed closely by fellow freshman Rosie Belsham, who earned her second top-5 finish of the year with a tie for fifth place at 8-under 208 after shooting 3-under 69 in the final round. Belsham’s 208 tied the ninth-best 54-hole total in program history.

Elodie Chapelet also posted 3-under 69 in the final round and finished tied for 19th place at even-par 216. Gurleen Kaur and Hannah Karg recorded matching scores of 2-under 70 in the final round, with Kaur finishing tied for 16th place at 1-under 215 and Karg placing tied for 26th at 1-over 217.

The five members of the Baylor lineup combined for 25 birdies in the final round, led by six birdies from Snyder and Karg, five birdies apiece from Chapelet and Belsham, and three birdies from Kaur.

Baylor also had a trio of players competing as individuals in the tournament. Freshman Nina Lang tied for 32nd place at 3-over 219 after a final round of 2-over 74, while Diane Baillieux tied for 61st place at 12-over 228 and Jordan Shackelford finished 76th at 29-over 245.

STAT OF THE DAY
840 – Baylor’s total of 24-under-par 840 was the best 54-hole total relative to par in program history. It was the third-best total score in school history behind a 7-under 833 in the 2020 Schooner Fall Classic (par 70) and a 13-under 839 in the 2018 Schooner Fall Classic (par 71). The previous program record for score relative to par was a tie at 22-under in the 2020 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational and in the 2015 NCAA San Antonio Regional.
