WACO, Texas – The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Tuesday the Midseason Team for the 2021 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy, and Baylor junior forward NaLyssa Smith joined 24 other college standouts.

Smith, from Converse, Texas, was a 2020 WBCA and Associated Press All-America honorable mention selection, and she was preseason All-American honorable mention selection by both entities coming into her third season.

She ranks 21st in the NCAA and 4th in the Big 12 Conference with eight double-doubles, and through Sunday’s game at K-State, she has had seven in her last nine contests. Smith is 9th in the Big 12 in scoring (17.6 ppg), 4th in rebounding (10.0 rpg), 4th in field goal percentage (.513), and 6th in free-throw percentage (.828) through 16 games.

Smith ranks tied for 5th all-time on Baylor’s career field-goal percentage list at .550, and she is two points shy of 1,000 for her career.

Named a finalist for the Katrina McClain Award, which honors the nation’s top power forward, Smith was also part of the Late Season Top 20 for the Wooden Award.
