THE RUNDOWN
BRYAN, Texas – Baylor men’s golf is tied for seventh place after shooting 10-over-par 298 in Friday’s first round of the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club.



The No. 36-ranked Bears (+10) are tied with No. 25 Texas Tech (+10) and Nebraska (+10) and lead No. 33 UTSA (+12), Rice (+12), Kansas (+15), UNLV (+18), Lamar (+24), New Mexico State (+27), Northern Illinois (+28) and Prairie View A&M (+53). Baylor trails No. 5 Texas (-5), No. 1 Oklahoma (+2), No. 12 Texas A&M (+2), No. 30 Louisville (+4), No. 46 Houston (+7) and North Texas (+9).



Redshirt freshman Luke Dossey, who is making his debut in the Baylor lineup, is tied for eighth place in the 96-player field at 1-under 71. Dossey was 1-over through three holes, then made seven consecutive pars before back-to-back birdies on his 11th and 12th holes of the day. He finished with six consecutive pars to tie his career-best round.



Travis McInroe recorded a 3-over 75 to sit in a tie for 35th place, while Cooper Dossey and Tyler Isenhart are tied for 42nd place with matching scores of 4-over 76. Ryan Grider is tied for 72nd place at 7-over 79. Grider was 9-over through 12 holes, then finished with four pars and two birdies across his final six holes.
STAT OF THE DAY
15 – Luke Dossey’s 15 pars are tied for the tournament lead after the first round. Only two other golfers in the 96-player field made 15 pars. Dossey began from the 10th tee and make consecutive pars to start his round before his lone bogey of the day on No. 12. His finished with 13 pars and two birdies over his final 15 holes. He was one of only nine players to make birdie on No. 2 and one of only 10 players to birdie No. 3.

Baylor is in the first round off the tee for Saturday’s second round. The Bears are paired with golfers from Texas Tech and Nebraska starting at 8:10 a.m. CT. Grider is up first, followed in 10-minute intervals by Isenhart, Cooper Dossey, McInroe and Luke Dossey, respectively.
