IRVING, Texas – Baylor equestrian’s Rachael Davis and Savannah Hemby have been named Big 12 Riders of the Month for March, as announced Tuesday morning by the conference office.

Davis earned the honor in Flat, while Hemby received the Fences award for BU’s first monthly Big 12 accolades of the year.

After an undefeated month in the Flat, Davis collected her third-career Big 12 monthly award, adding to her already long list of accolades for her 2020-21 campaign. The senior from Woodinville, Wash., tallied an unblemished 7-0 record with two regular-season Most Outstanding Performer honors. She was also named the MOP at the Big 12 Championship in the Flat after garnering two wins in BU’s third-place finish.

Hemby was nearly perfect, going 6-1 in March in Fences. The sophomore Argyle native ended the year with five-straight victories. Her only loss came in a 71-70 decision on neutral grounds to No. 5 Fresno State. Hemby also earned All-Big 12 recognition in Fences for her performance this season.

Davis’ award is Baylor’s ninth for Flat in program history, while Hemby became the 17th Fences winner.

Baylor finished the 2021 regular season at 2-7 with a third-place finish in the Big 12 Championship and earned the No. 8 seed for the NCEA National Championship. The Bears will take on No. 1 Auburn when nationals kicks off on Thursday, April 15, at the Extraco Events Center in Waco.
