WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis landed in the Ann Arbor site for the 2021 ITA Kick-Off Weekend tournament on Jan. 23-24, alongside Michigan, Texas A&M and Pepperdine, as announced Monday afternoon.

The four-team tournament will begin on Saturday, Jan. 23, as the No. 4-seeded Bears will face the host and top-seeded Wolverines, while the No. 2-seeded Aggies and No. 3-seeded Waves will square off with a berth to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on the line.

The winners will come back the following day, Sunday, Jan. 24, to play for a spot in the national event.

Baylor drew Ann Arbor as part of a draft process that was completed on Monday, selecting its location as a non-host for the third time in program history.

The Bears will compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend for the 10th time in the 12 years of its existence, having won all 18 matches and advancing to the national event in each of the previous nine seasons. Last year, BU cruised past Gonzaga 4-0 and defeated Louisville 4-1 to book its trip to Madison, Wis., for the 2020 tournament.

This year’s ITA National Team Indoor Championship will be held Feb. 12-14, 2021 in Champaign, Ill.

After the COVID-19 pandemic shortened the 2020 season, Baylor finished as the No. 30 team in the nation in the ITA rankings. The Bears will return 11 players from last season’s roster that went 13-3, in addition to three graduate transfers.

BU will announce the remainder of its upcoming spring roster at a later date.
