NOTIFICATION: Equip 2 Care: Athletics Mental Health education series - Mental Health 101- Wednesday, October 22 at 11am

This month, Wednesday, October 22nd there will be another opportunity to engage in the Equip to Care coaches and staff mental health education series.  The topic is "Mental Health 101" and will be presented by Dr. Don Arterburn and Trinity Martinez LCSW. Anyone is welcome to attend, however for this session, ALL new employees (sport program coaches/staff and admin staff) hired after June 1, 2025, are highly encouraged to attend a Mental Health 101 session. Additionally, if you have not met the requirement for summer education credit, please use this opportunity to complete this.


In Mental Health 101 we explore the process and resources for supporting the emotional needs of student-athletes. The challenge of excelling on the field, in the classroom, and in relationships all in the same day can be overwhelming. You will learn how to assess the severity of distress and how to make the most helpful referrals. You will also learn the most effective listening skills that promote acceptance and advocacy for the athlete.



REMINDER: All Athletics Staff are required to attend 1 session of the Equip 2 Care (mental health education) series each year.

Where: The XTO Room, Simpson Athletics and Academic Center (2nd Floor...near academic center)
