I never felt hate but was flabbergasted at times by her nagging and interference. I don't know much but is it the Oedipus complex, think that came into it with John and Celia. Celia couldn't let go but John had clearly had enough but before the marriage and
growing up, he would have been more of a mummy little boy even in his teens maybe up until Margaret. There was an early line before wedding between Edwin and Margaret along the lines of "well he is very fond of her". It hurt me when John was harsh to Celia.
I wish he had realised Celia lived through him and it wouldn't have hurt to be nicer, even when she was constantly mothering him. She couldn't help it.

I am inclined to agree with you, Lee. Celia Porter was very realistically written by John Finch. All of us probably know someone who resembles Celia in her self-centred spitefulness. She was the one character that fans loved to hate. Poor Harry Porter, who
had resigned himself to suffer the slings and arrows of being married to her. His only relief seemed to come during his sweet, heartfelt discussions with his daughter-in-law, Margaret Ashton Porter. </div>

<div dir="auto" style="color:rgb(33,33,33); background-color:rgb(255,255,255)">Margery's portrayal was very good. Despite their strained relationship, both Celia and Harry remained together. The love that was there in the beginning must have been strong. Harry
seemed at several points tried to reach Celia but without success but I think Celia loved him despite everything, maybe deep down in her consciousness.</div>
