<div dir="auto">Spoils of War did grow on me after repeated viewings but I found with that show some of the characters were deeply unpleasant. They made a mistake killing the matriarch played by Avis Bunnage, as she was one of the more solid performers.</div>

Flesh and blood not being period, has not warmed on me yet. Too much Michael Jayston and I prefer Dorothy White in Sam rather than her whining in Flesh and Blood. Some of the lines are good, typical Finch but to my mind this is the weaker series and it must
not have sold on DVD as they never finished the series with the last 10 episodes</div>

Besides 'A Family at War' (1970-1972), another of John Finch's series that I can recommend is 'Sam' (1973-1975), a semi-autobiographical drama that opens in 1934 and follows the title character from boyhood to the age of about 50. I agree with you that 'The
Spoils of War' (1980-1981) and 'Flesh and Blood' (1980-1982) fall short of these two excellent series.</div>

<div dir="auto" style="color:rgb(33,33,33); background-color:rgb(255,255,255)">I received yesterday part one and two dads of John Finch Flesh and blood. I understand only 10 episodes were ever released with the remaining 10 unavailable. So far, I'm disappointed,
though I've only watched three episodes. Mistake to kill Renee Asherson off in the first episode and if not warmed to the characters or setting but when I first got Spoils of War by Finch, I was similarly disappointed but on repeated viewing it free on me
so maybe this too will. Still an addition to my DVD collection, however, I feel Finch never got near to replicating the brilliant cast and characters that made A Family at War so engaging.</div>
