The opening theme is taken from the first movement of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 6th Symphony. This was actually written in 1948 and the last movement (Epilogue) is reminiscent of a bombed out wasteland, a very eerie ending to a symphony.<div>On another note, I have been in contact with a friend of Lesley Nunnerley (Margaret Ashton Porter) who tells me that Lesley has turned 90 this year and is not enjoying good health at the moment. I was in contact with Lesley a number of years ago but I have not had any response to messages. I'm not really a classical music buff but I do like the theme music, particularly the opening theme and the simple titles with the sandcastle was so appropriate for the opening and close.</div>

Also like how we hear wartime tunes peppered through the episodes. I remember Sefton singing along to ' we hang out the washing on the Sigfrid line, have you any dirty washing mother dear ' and we hear a bit of Gracie fields on the radio in an episode too.</div>
