Yes, Steve, now that you mention it, this really IS a good time for a re-watch! The Ashtons were a strong family who stuck together through some of the most difficult times imaginable – particularly the blitz. Two members of the family did not survive the war:
Robert (killed, January 1942) and Jean (died, January 1943). And, of course, then Philip was killed in an explosion at the civilian shelter a few months after war's end (November 1945).</div>

What’s it called and where can I buy it please? I really want to know if it sheds any light on why, over the years, no AFAW re-runs have been shown TV despite its global popularity and its place as one of the most successful dramas ever made.<br>

‘Sam’ also deserves the accolade, also outstanding drama.<br>

Aah….. the good old days! Whatever happened to decent drama (apart from the top-notch Wolf Hall - albeit different type of drama altogether).<br>
