<div>Even more wonderful than AFAW (have to keep these posts group-relevant)!
<div><br>
</div>
<div>As far as my American ear can tell, everybody has the proper accent (at least more consistently than the AFAW cast). And the casting is just as eloquent: Michael Goodliffe IS Jack Barraclough (like John McKelvey IS Sefton), and the females are uniformly
superb, especially Mona Bruce.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>There is so much to absorb sociologically and humanly. Folk pressures (gypsies bringing bad luck); political pressures (Means Tests); social pressures (unwed parents); human pressures (desertion, death, family). All this in 39 densely packed episodes.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Fewer boom shadows and hanging microphones!</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Really a wonderful achievement; I can see When the Boat Comes In got its mooring in Sam. Imitation IS the sincerest form of ... television.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Right! You lot go out then and get your DVDs! You’ll be gobsmacked! Ay!</div>
