<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Very sad to see that Colin Campbell passed away recently. David Ashton was one of my favourite characters in A Family at War -- too self-centred to be entirely likable, of course, but his human weaknesses
were true to life, and we have all known people like him. I would guess that young David was rather spoiled by Jean in his formative years, rendering him utterly helpless to resist the temptations of life. In my opinion, Colin Campbell was brilliant as David,
so believable that I cannot imagine anyone else playing this role. Whoever was responsible for casting him (whether John Finch, Michael Cox, or otherwise) is to be applauded. John, can you tell us who selected the principal actors for A Family at War?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
