If always had a soft spot for Sefton. A very underrated character.  I loved this close sibling relationship between him and Jean. Jean always thought of him warmly, rightly or wrongly nearly always took his side. I think she saw what we viewers saw and felt that he was lonely and set in his ways. He loved his son Get his controlling temperament only drove Tony further away.  He was mostly kind to his nephews and nieces too, with odd clumsy exceptions.

I preferred him to Edwin in Many ways. I'm often awkward in company, rather opinionated and somewhat lonely now so I am fond of Sefton Briggs. I did think what an awkward and out of character it was, the episode where he had that terrible woman. Like the writers had decided Sefton would want a shrill, bossy women like that. I think they realised the mistake because aside from that single episode, they did not pursue it.
