'Soapy'? Not so much.
'Addictive in a good way'? Definitely so!

There’s a mention of AFAW in a recent newsletter from Persephone Press (they publish books, mainly by women, that have gone out of print). I think it’s a bit unfair of them to call it soapy.
“When we put a plea on the Letter for recommendations of what to watch, a kind reader suggested A Family at War (1970-71) tracing the lives of a Liverpool family during World War II. It is very soapy (as in soap opera) but addictive in a good way and has a wonderful tone.”

David Wood turned up briefly in a BBC documentary about Richard Burton. He
was in a production of 'Doctor Faustus' at the Oxford Playhouse that Burton
did quite late in his life.
