Celia Porter was one character that the fans loved to hate. She was unlikable and self-centred to a fault, causing family conflicts wherever she happened to be. Poor Harry, having to put up with her for so many years of marriage. I hasten to add, however, that Margery Mason played her role beautifully!

Margery Mason played Mrs Porter, Margaret’s mother-in-law. A wonderful actress who played the unhappy and neurotic woman very skilfully. She died aged 100.
