I remember seeing him years ago, around 1970, in a television docudrama
about the 1890s poets. He played Ernest Dowson. Much later, we saw him on
stage in an adaptation of Turgenev's 'Fathers and Sons.' I think he was in
the film 'If,' and as you say, in lots of other stuff. I knew he'd written
plays for children (we took our son to see one of them) but didn't know
about composing, or that he was a magician.
