Very much Doris. I first watched with mum shortly before she died and she loved it, wanted me to put the ends on again, so when I watch iv got warm memories of watching together. It's one of the last things we did. I thought I might not watch again but I've found it doesn't upset me . I'm much alone so I have it on often even when I'm pottering, not say watching all the time but listening. Very comforting. I think Shelagh Fraser was brilliant as Jean. I always felt for her. Always agreed with her point of view.

Another favourite was Sefton's housekeeper Mrs Foster, a great character.

It's a heartwarming show. I can think of their problems and not
Mine. 😃

Yes, that warm relationship between Margaret (Ashton) Porter and her father-in-law, Harry Porter, was always enjoyable to watch. During their pleasant chats, I think Harry was able to find some welcome relief from Celia, his overbearing wife!

I have watched it several times over. I bought the DVD a few years ago. Despite the deaths, I find it comforting. I loved jean. I was so sorry she departed the show in series 2. Though Get death episode and those preceding it are my favourites. I adored the friendship played so beautifully between Harry Porter and Margaret.
